Hello~! -And Welcome to my blog. Today I'm going to be giving my review on the 'Red vs Blue: Revelation' soundtrack. First I'll go through each song and tell you what I think of it, then at the end I'll give my review on the soundtrack as a whole. Ok let's get started :D
1) Track 01: Agent Tex.
The song is intriguing, a mix of country, rock and almost opera-like vocals put together to make a full-fledged bad ass song. I especially like the very beginning when Caboose shouts 'This place is full of mean ladies!', the occasional comments from the RvB characters really made the song funnier, but didn't take away the serious melody.
2) Track 02: Prelude.
When you hear this song, serious shit is about to go down. When I listen to this song I can almost feel the suspense in it, man I love it when music is like that. The small wordless vocals really make me shiver, overall I am VERY fond of this song. *Sigh* If only it were longer...
3) Track 03: Boss Battle.
Boss Battle picks up of where Prelude left off, only the beginning of the song is stronger and more like actual battle music. It's not my favorite song in the soundtrack but I do like it a lot. The song still has that suspenseful aura that Prelude does, only not as strong. When I listen to this song I can picture a bad ass fight going on.
4) Track 04: Ice Fight.
The beginning of this song is what really makes me love it, the soft, almost eerie, bells (or whatever they are!) followed by the louder more dramatic drums then the vocals. This song ALWAYS sends shivers down my spine and makes my blood pressure rise. It's suspenseful, dramatic, serious, beautiful and overall a epic song. It's my second favorite in the soundtrack, and I listen to it every time I go onto YouTube.
5) Track 05: Plagam Extremam Infligere.
The songs starts out with some dramatic drums beating loudly, in a good way. Other instruments come in and the songs starts to evoke some emotion into the listener. Then the VIOLIN comes in, that part really caught my attention. It brought a mysterious aura to the song, making it much more suspenseful and intriguing. Truly a wonderful song XD Then the short vocals some in, when I first heard them I was like "WHAT WAS THAT?!" then after pressing reply about a hundred times I started to love the vocals.
6) Track 06: The Pelican Has Landed.
When the song first starts I automatically think "Omg Bad ass!" I must say I really like this song, it's not as dramatic as the rest but it definitely pulls people in. This song is simple and I give it a 4/5.
7) Track 07: Rally (Sarge's Speech)
This song is very motivational! Even though it doesn't have words it makes me feel very motivated! Slowly through the song the motivational suspense builds up and things get dramatic. I could see someone talking or giving a speech with this song playing (or something like that). Rally is one of the more calmer songs in the soundtrack.
8) Track 08: Red vs Blue.
My all time favorite song in the soundtrack (and in general). I've memorized all the lyrics to this song, and I'm in love with it. The lyrics are so deep, when I first listened to them I actually cried a little. Much better then the music I've been hearing lately, every time I listen to the song I can't help but grin and think of great things (like Rooster Teeth Productions! XD -shot-). The song is a mix of metal and rock, something I normally don't listen to, but this is a exception. I highly recommend it to others, but I'm sure not everyone will like it.
9) Track 09: Epilogue.
Ok I'm not afraid to admit that I cry when I hear this song, as a big Red vs Blue fan this song is really sad. During the song there is actually a monologue, not in the soundtrack song but in the actual show Epilouge played during the very last episode. Just for the hell of it I'll tell you the monologue.
The monologue says (if your not a Red vs Blue fan you might not get this);
'I'd like to say I found her right away. That I just walked into the epsilon unit and there she was waiting for me. As you can probably guess it didn't happen that way, but I know she's in here somewhere, and I'll find her. We always seem to find each other. For better or for worse. I don't know why the director did what he did, I don't know if he was trying to revive a memory from his past or if he was just trying to get it out of his head. But I figured out something that the Director didn't. It took Alpha, Delta and all the rest to help piece it together for me but..
What I've learned is that, a great love is a lot like a good memory. When it's there, and you know it's there, but just outta your reach, it can be all you think about. And you can focus on it and try to force it, but the more you do, the more you seem to push it away. But if your patient, and you hold still, well maybe, just maybe, it'll come to you.'
10) Track 10: Forge World,
I laughed so~ hard when I first heard this song, and I still do every time I hear it! The song is very fun, simple and short! If only I could have it on my ipod! You kinda haft to know Halo in order to get some of the song, but it's good for everyone!
11) Track 11: Your Best Friend.
Another hilarious song (if you know who Caboose is and his personality), very techno. It took me a few listens to understand the lyrics but when I found out what they were I kept laughing over and over again. The song has a good beat, very up-lifting!
12) Track 12: I Am The Best.
Probably the most entertaining song on the soundtrack! It's sung by Burnie Burns (WOO!). The song is more like a rap then normal songs but it's still an awesome thing to listen too! The back round singers add flare to the already interesting song and give it a nice beat! 5/5!
13) Track 13: Sarge's Blues.
A western/rock/jazz song that cracks me up every time! It's not my favorite, but I still recommend it. If your not a Red vs Blue fan you probably won't get the song though :/
14) Track 14: Grifball Jam.
When the song starts I immediately picture some sort of sport event, the song gives off a catchy beat that pulls people in. In the middle of the song the HARP comes in, that caught me off guard at first, but after the violin came in I was ok with it. I give this song a 3/5.
15) Track 15: Hijo De Puta Triste.
This song is one of the calmer songs in the soundtrack, it gives off a mellow almost fictional-game feel that makes me think I'm playing one of my video games. At the same time the western vibe is stronger and interesting. It's kind of a strange song, but I like it none the less. 2/5
16) Track 16: Agent Tex (Instrumental).
*See review for track 01*
17) Track 17: Suite.
This song screams epic. I absolutely love this song, the mix of the vocals, the suspenseful and dramatic melody, along with the sudden pops of flare and volume make it one hell of a thing to listen too. The song really evokes emotion into a person, makes your heart race, it's so unique! The ending really ties the song together nicely, so dramatic and almost un-fulfilling with the sudden stop.
18) Track 18: Red Vs Blue OST Version
I like this version of the song, but I must say I prefer the other one (track 08). I'm not sure if everyone notice's the difference between the two, but I do. This version is more sped up, less metal and clearer lyrics. I don't dislike this version, I'm just saying I like the other one more. 5/5
19) Track 19: I Say Ooh.
A good song, not really in my taste though. The song is almost retro and old-fashioned, but it's still fun and has a pop of rapping here and there. Some people will like it more then others and vice-verse.
And that is it! All the songs in the 'Red vs Blue: Revelation' soundtrack. So now my overall opinion on the soundtrack.
20/5. The soundtrack is unique, original, dramatic, well made and just awesome. I'm planning on buying the CD as soon as I can, because I really want to listen to the songs all the time. Red vs Blue has a wonderful soundtrack and I can't wait to hear more from Jeff Williams (the maker of all the songs in the soundtrack)!
Also, I'll put links to all the songs down below so you guys can listen to them too! Tell me if you agree or not on my reviews, or even make you own! Who knows! Well anyway, thanks for reading :D
